Kind of. I may be mistaken, but there is a mod called "The way of the Force a la Star Wars" that uses holocrons. They look very similar to that item in the center, and i hadn't seen them anywhere in the game until after i had installed the mod, so it was just an assumption.

As I recall it was a Lexicon (cube) you use in some dwemer ruins during main quest.
